We were once told by a lovely bride and groom that we were more like wedding story tellers rather than photographers, so when we decided to put together an inspirational shoot we thought it would be fun if our shoot also told a story!
La Belle au bois dormant “The Beauty Sleeping in the Wood”.
After a bit of research we came across the original story of sleeping beauty-La Belle au bois dormant “The Beauty Sleeping in the Wood”.
With a love of all things Boho and beautiful we knew this was the story that we wanted to use and set about styling a woodland wedding, full of inspiration for future brides and grooms that had the twist of the “sleeping beauty in the woods” story running through it.
Sleeping Beauty (the bride of course!) falls asleep after pricking her finger, Maleficent the evil fairy makes an appearance and in contrast to the rest of the nature based shoot is welding her glittering brooch bouquet and sporting glamorous victory roll horns. Sleeping Beauty is saved by her three fairy godmothers (who are also her bridesmaids!) and after the prince’s kiss awakens her its a good old fashioned woodland wedding, full of natural, colourful decoration and a rather yummy naked cake.
Hope you enjoy!
Foraging in the woods.
One of the best things about a woodland wedding is getting back to nature, we’ve used a lot of foraged items in our decoration such as pine cones, berries and leaves. Even our lovely wooden centerpiece was foraged and then made beautiful with a bit of TLC. The very talented girls at Garden Gate Flowers in Ruby have created bouquets and a flower crown made mostly from berries that can be found at this time of year. That wasn’t the only clever idea Garden Gate Flowers had, they have another amazing frugal tip for brides to be, why not use your bridesmaids bouquets as table decorations later on the day? This way the flowers stay fresh, aren’t being forgotten about or carried around and it also saves you money, which is always good (more money for extra wedding treats!).
Special thanks.
